Canon 4000D
This is an entry level camera if you are on a budget. Make sure it is compatible with STM lenses because you need a telephoto up to 250mm.

Canon 80D STM Kit
I have a 77D, but this is the newer 80D model with some minor changes. Brilliant camera for filming! Canon just works for me.

Panasonic Lumix S5
This is an example of one of the latest mirrorless cameras. Inevitably more expensive, and probably not worth the money unless you want to have the latest technology. Make sure you can get an STM telephoto lens that is compatible.

Step 2: Accessorise
As my wife insists, an outfit is only complete with the right accessories to enhance it - the same is true of a camera. The right accessories will enhance what you film as well as making your life easier and simpler. As a guideline we have provided pictures and links to the products we use below.

Canon STM telephoto lens 55-250mm
You should get an STM lens for quiet filming. I have this one - it's great. 250mm should be enough to get you close - but if not go to 300mm

Neewer Tripod
Great tripod. Essential to keep a steady camera. Don't get a cheap plastic one - they don't last!

Backpack for DSLR gear
You'll need a decent bag that is sturdy and has room for everything. This one is affordable works for me!

Rav Power Spare Batteries
Rav Power batteries are a much cheaper alternative to Canon batteries, and in my experience they last longer!

SanDisk Memory Card
Sandisk is the best disk provider. 32GB is plenty, but they go bigger! Avoid cheap unbranded disks. 3-pack so you have essential spares.

Seagate 2TB back-up drive
You will need storage as the files you create will take up all the room on your laptop! Seagate portable drives are great.
Step 3: Upload to Edit & Share
I use a MacBook Air but am getting a MacBook Pro like this due to the additional speed needed for editing.
